There are three facets to my life philosophy; Live Consciously, Choose Wisely, and Love Passionately
Living Consciously ~ this forms the basis of the work Eldon and I have dedicated ourselves to. In 1984, Eldon, along with his best friend and business partner Roy Bey, started our company with the primary focus of ‘giving back’ and ‘making a difference.’ (I joined them in 1989). They called our company Progressive Awareness, recognizing that this was an ongoing process, that awakening from the automatic conditioning we all experience happens in stages and entails earnest introspection.
Who am I? and Why am I? here are questions many ask themselves at some point in their lives. To even begin answering ‘Who am I?’ one must start with ‘Who am I not?’ By necessity, this requires gaining an understanding of how our minds work, and why we do what we do. My primary focus has involved taking this information and finding ways to use it to improve our lives. In addition to the age-old questions of ‘Who am I?’ and ‘Why am I here?’ I have added the question, ‘Who do I choose to be?’ For me, life is a quest to become the best version of myself based on what I have consciously determined to be important to me. And I work to remain open to learning more all the time.
Choose Wisely ~ As a child, I often fantasized about discovering the genie who would grant my deepest wish. I gave this question a great deal of thought, trying to discard those, such as infinite wealth or immortality, that could lead to other problems. Eventually I settled on gaining wisdom. There are many instances where being right is not enough. For me, wisdom entails taking the best information and formulating solutions that are in the best interest of all concerned.
Love Passionately ~ intimate love is only a tiny aspect of what I am referring to here. For sure, if you love someone, let them know. Love is about what you give and not what you receive. But add in to this, sing loud and strong, dance without a care in the world, fully taste the chocolate that life has to offer. Take your talents, whatever they may be, and make them the way you serve your higher purpose. Talents come in many shapes and forms, and we all have several of them. Being a wonderful parent, friend, teacher, student, lover, singer, mathematician, performer, and anything else you can think of—these are all talents. Honor your talent, polish it at every opportunity, and then share it.
Wishing you love, light, and laughter . . . always!
